What business are you in?
MONOMÉ is a start-up company managed by a group of young people that focus on eco-friendly and sustainable lifestyles. Our brand, MONOMÉ consists of “MONO” and “MÉ”, whereas “MONO” means “one” while “MÉ” means “oneself”. So that in MONOMÉ, we want to build an awareness in the community that it all begins from ourselves to save the one thing we all have in common, the earth. We aim to help people get a more sustainable lifestyle through the act of reducing the amount of plastic waste. Now, our recently launched product called The Monometry which is a 2-in-1 Reusable Bag and Bag Charm.
Who is your target market?
Our target market is those who are eager to start a sustainable living through using an eco-friendly product. Our market also targeted a fashion conscious and practical seeker specifically, females who live in JABODETABEK, have an age range between 17-24, and are also classified in SES A and B. Although our target market is a female, our latest product “The Monometry” is available For Him and Her. We also segmented our customer through 3 segments, there are modern & fashionable lifestyle, green community, and devout citizen. Modern & fashionable lifestyle segments are those who are productive, highly active, fashion conscious, and open minded. Green community segments are those who are eco conscious and have a high awareness about the environment. The last segment is a devout citizen segment who always obey government's regulation, aware about political developments and have a high awareness and well prepared with all the government’s regulations.
What is your competitive advantage?
We believe our products are here to help people in reducing waste and encourage people to start a sustainable living. With our 2-in-1 concept, it delivers the practical value so that people will not forget to bring their reusable bag while shopping at the mall or doing their daily activities. So, when in hurry or needed, just pull out the reusable bag from the bag charm easily. Another competitive advantage from our product is that our reusable bag can be put into bag charm without folding needed, unlike other products in the market that need to be folded in a certain way. Our recently launched product, The Monometry has an elongated hexagonal shape with our detailed embossed logo completed by the stainless steel keychain. As a bag accessory, It gives the luxury and elegant feel, creating a statement for your outfit with a hint of simplicity and elegance. Inside The Monometry, there is the reusable bag that delivers a simple and modern design that is suitable with any outfits. A piece of statement on our reusable bag design “Seal The Environment” is a wake-up call for people to reduce the usage of single-use plastic bags.
Who is your competition? Is there a competitor that you admire most? If so, why?
MONOMÉ is the first company that launched a product with a 2-in-1 bag charm and reusable bag concept. However, we also have a competitor in this market with a similar yet different concept. The first competitor is a start up called NAMAKA who combined a tote bag and keychain. NAMAKA seeks a cute and girly design through their product called “NAMAPALS” a 2-in-1 keychain and reusable bag, where the reusable bag can be folded into a cat-shaped mascot keychain. Besides NAMAKA, there are other competitors called KANGGO whose product is a foldable bag. KANGGO foldable bag is a 2-in-1 pouch and reusable bag with a basic design presented in a variety of colors. KANGGO’s reusable bag can be folded into a pouch that can be easily carried in daily activities.
If you could communicate a single message about your business, what would it be?
If we could describe MONOMÉ with an object, it is a tree. A tree that is slowly growing with its branches and leaves. It represents our brand, who is growing at a steady pace while spreading awareness to people with our branches and leaves. With every product we launch, we hope that it will wake up society about how our environment is vulnerable and needs to be preserved by us, humans. As a tree itself represents eco-friendly and growth, we want to keep our eco-friendly value strong as we grow to other beginnings while embracing people to start loving our earth more. With MONOMÉ, we hope we could increase public awareness about sustainable living by taking part in reducing waste.
